Tai Chi Chih

Tai Chi Chih is a moving meditation that is relaxing and beneficial.  It consists of 19 movements and one pose.  There is no special equipment required and it can be done inside or outside.

Tai Chi Chih was designed by Justin Stone as a way to circulate energy (chi) in the body.  Tai Chi Chih has been studied as an intervention to decrease stress,  People who consistently practice this moving mediation often report normalized blood pressure, decreased stress, better balance, and an overall feeling of calm, joy and serenity.

Important Tai Chi Chih Principles

Circularity and Continuity

Movements of Tai Chi Chih have circularity.  Movements flow into one another in a slow, continuous motion, as if swimming through heavy air.

Polarity

When the hands are held slightly apart and chi is flowing, polarity can often be felt between the palms of the hands.

Grounding

Attention is given to where and how the bottom of the feet connect with the floor or ground, giving the student a sense of balance and stability.
